Our centre has prepared specially designed dementia-friendly worksheets for you, or your loved ones, to use. 

Our dementia-friendly worksheets are specially designed to be:

  1. Age- and stage-appropriate for dementia. 

  2. Culturally appropriate and user friendly to all populations of different gender, race, and religions

  3. Fun and cognitively challenging 

  4. Safe and not involving any dangerous items

We offer nine different worksheets that focuses on different aspects of cognition.

Additional Information: 

Research has shown that engaging people with dementia in appropriate activities can yield beneficial effects such as: 

  • increasing positive moods

  • improving activities of daily living and quality of life (Elgelman K. et al 1999; Orsuluc-Jeras S. et al 2000)

  • creating constructive attitudes

  • reducing problematic behaviors (Jiska C.M. et al 2010).

Engagement in activities is a fundamental intervention in non-pharmacological treatment for dementia. 


​Description of the 9 worksheets: 


Categorization is the act of sorting and organizing items into different groups based on their characteristics. It is one of the most fundamental cognitive abilities in human development and psychology.

Importance of categorization skills in daily life:

  • Enable the individual to recognize the similarities and differences of items in daily life

  • Improve semantic memory where the new information can be stored efficiently in groups. 

  • Help an individual to generalize experiences and bring sense into the environment based on the concepts generalized.

  • Improve language ability and conversation skills as categories allows for better comprehension through vocabulary expansion.

  • Enable the individual to do the correct prediction and decision making.

A sentence is a collection of words that convey the meaning. It is formed with the rules of grammar. It provides us with the framework to deliver our ideas effectively.

Benefits of sentence formation worksheets to person with dementia:

  • To improve or maintain the communication skills in individual.

  • To improve or maintain the reading and writing skills in individual.

It is a logic based combinatorial number-placement puzzle. There are research showed that routine Sudoku playing can improve working memory in older adults (Grabbe J.W. 2017).  

Benefits of playing sudoku:

  • It can help to improve an individual’s attention and concentration.

  • It can sharpen the problem-solving skills in individual.

  • It stimulates an individual’s logical thinking process and reasoning skills.

  • It develops sense of accomplishment in individual.

Word search is a word game that consists of letters that placed in a grid. Individual is required to find and mark all the words hidden in the grid. Compared to common word search, this dementia-friendly word search only consists of hidden words in 2 directions, vertically or horizontally.

Benefits of word search worksheet to person with dementia:

  • Improve attention & concentration in individual.

  • Support language fluency in communication.

  • Improve task persistence in individual

  • Develop problem-solving skills.

  • Expand vocabulary and increase written fluency.

This worksheet is specially designed in traditional Chinese characters as most of our older persons were educated in traditional version of Chinese characters instead of simplified Chinese. The worksheet is related to our daily life and Chinese culture.

Word scramble is a word game created by Martin Naydel in the year 1954. It is most popularly known as Jumble. In the game, the alphabets are scrambled in random fashion and player is required to arrange them to form a meaningful word.

Benefits of word scramble to person with dementia:

  • To increase the individual’s exposure to old and new vocabulary. Vocabulary is essential in conducting daily conversation.

  • To increase attention span for the task.

  • To maintain the problem-solving skills in individual.

  • To maintain the short-term memory capability and working memory.

Research found out significant impairments noted in facial emotion recognition among people with Alzheimer’s Disease (Albert M.S. et al 1991). These impairments can contribute to a devastating impact on social behavioral competence, increased levels of depression, inappropriate social behavior, interpersonal problems and psychobehavioural disturbances.

Benefit of this Emotion and Feeling Worksheet to person with dementia:

  • It can help to maintain the skills of facial recognition emotion in individual with dementia.

  • It helps to maintain the long-term memory through refreshing on past emotional events.

Our money math worksheets contain the pictures of daily used money in Ringgit Malaysia and also the questions about common scenarios in our daily life. Money management problem always being the early signs in dementia.

  • To improve the self-esteem by empowering the abilities in people with dementia.

Maze solving is a cognitive demanding activity where researchers found out increased blood flow to various brain parts when solving a maze. Researchers in USA used computerized maze as a screening tool to identify potential driving impairment among elderly with cognitive impairment and dementia (Brian R.O et al 2003). 

Benefits of maze worksheets to persons with dementia:

  • Improve sustained attention and concentration.

  • Improve visuospatial skills.

  • Enhance reasoning and problem-solving skills.
