Description

Sleep disturbances are a common issue faced by people with dementia with the prevalence of 44% in patients with Alzheimer’s Disease and 90% in patients with Lewy Body dementia. These disturbances don’t just affect the person with dementia; they also place immense strain on caregivers, leading to exhaustion and a reduced quality of life for everyone involved. A better understanding of sleep management enables family members to improve their quality of life for both parties and reduce preventable hospitalizations due to falls.

At the end of the webinar, you will be able to:

  • Identify the causes of sleep disturbance in people with dementia.

  • Understand the impact of poor sleep on dementia progression as well as caregivers' burden.

  • Learn the pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches in sleep management.

  • Learn the caregiver coping strategies (e.g., tips in managing nighttime behavior safely).

An e-certificate and 1 CPD point are granted at the end of the webinar.
