Description:
Pain in dementia is often neglected due to expressive difficulty and altered mental status in individuals with dementia. There are some myths that people with dementia do not feel pain, or the pain behavior is part of their manipulative behavior. Poor understanding of pain contributed to untreated illnesses, withdrawal, confusion, and distress to caregivers due to negative behaviors in people with dementia. This training is crucial for healthcare practitioners and caregivers in promoting a pain-free life for people with dementia.
