Description:

Food is crucial for people with dementia in sustaining their physical and mental health. As dementia progresses, changes in perception, memory, physical ability, and behavior can turn eating and drinking from simple acts of daily living into significant sources of stress, risk, and diminished quality of life for both the individual and their caregivers.

This webinar isn't just about the "what" of food and fluids; it's about the "how." How do we support someone who no longer recognizes the utensils before them? How do we encourage drinking when the sensation of thirst is forgotten? How do we maintain dignity and pleasure in meals when the world feels increasingly unfamiliar?

By end of the webinar, you will be able to:

  • Understand the nutritional and hydration requirements in an older person.

  • Explain the factors that influence nutritional and hydration needs in dementia.

  • Learn the strategies to support nutrition and hydration in people with dementia.

  • Correct the myths and misconceptions about supplements and ‘brain food’.

An e-certificate & 1 CPD point are granted at the end of webinar.
